Newcastle United have so many injuries right now that in order to cover it all, we need three separate articles. All in all, the fact that they sit ninth in the table right now is pretty admirable. To have 11 players out injured, enough to field an entire team, and still be on the first page of the standings is definitely commendable. Credit first year manager Mattias Jaissle for that. But let’s get into the injuries, focusing on Amar Dedic, Sean Steur, Matias Fernandez-Pardo and Joelinton here.
For part one, which you can read here, we got into the details on Anthony Elanga, Ewen Jaouen, Jacob Ramsey and Nicolas Gonzalez.
In the third and final piece, we’ll get into Dan Burn, William Osula and Valentino Livramento.
Amar Dedic
Nursing a nagging hamstring injury, Dedic missed out against Hull City and he won’t take part with Bosnia and Herzegovina this FIFA window. Resting during the internationals should get him right for the next match, or at least in contention to make the squad.
Sean Steur
It turns out that he’s not actually injured, but battling fatigue, cramping and some tired legs. That’s why he was withdrawn from the win over Hull City; only for precautionary reasons. He joined up with the Dutch U21s this international window where he admitted to the media that he is still working on adapting to the additional physicality of the Premier League.
However, overall he should be fine for the Coventry match, which is still 18 days away.
Matias Fernandez-Pardo
The 21-year-old is pretty much in same boat as Steur, not injured, just battling through fatigue, cramping and that kind of stuff. So he’ll be fine, just working towards getting 90 minutes match fitness. He should be available for the next match.
Joelinton
Another player in the middle of the park working on his rehab. He might be recovered enough from his thigh injury in time to be selected for the next match.
