Club legend Eric Cantona sees multiple trophies this season for Manchester United. They could win the first in a matter for hours in the EFL Cup versus Southampton.

On Friday, Jose Mourinho when asked during his weekly press briefing what it would mean to become the first Manchester United manager to win a trophy in his first season on the job. Here was his response:

“First of all, you are right. If. If is a big thing in football. But I think it’s more important for the club than myself. I have so many good things in my career that I wouldn’t be influenced by a little detail. The most important thing is the club. The club won a trophy last season, so let’s try and win another one this season.”

“Plus, the quality and dimension of our football is very important, and I realised that by the fans reaction. Their happiness is very important. Their connection with the way the team plays. It would be good for the group, it would be good for the club. It would also be good for me, obviously, but in the beginning of my career I was looking more at my personal achievements. Now I’m in a period, I’m more and more and more a club man.”

United could win what’s been dubbed a “plastic treble” this season with the League Cup, Europa League and FA Cup. The King Eric Cantona sees Mourinho winning more than one trophy in 2017.

Cantona told the club’s official website: “I think they will win more than one trophy this season and the first one will be this one. Mourinho is a winner, he has won a lot of things and he is a great manager. I think United will win many things.”

“The first one is important, I think. In a club like United, of course, you have the pressure of winning things so, when you win one, you have less pressure but people ask for more of course, and Mourinho doesn’t have any kind of problem with the pressure.”

Eric Cantona went on to praise Mourinho:

“I think he plays more attacking football than he used to play and he tries to understand the expectation all the time,” “He is a very intelligent man, very clever, and he has a great sense of humour. I always said that before he came to United.”

“He takes all the pressure on him, he doesn’t care about any kind of pressure. He’s great psychologically. He takes all the pressure on him so it’s less pressure on others and so the players can enjoy.”
