U.S. Women’s National Team star Alex Morgan, Alex Morgan not Sir Alex Ferguson, and that’s USWNT, not WINT as Tim Beckman likes to say, is the face of USA soccer. But she also knows a lot about Football, or Futbol. Alex is a huge fan of Barca a.k.a. FC Barcelona and Lionel Messi. However, she also follows Premier League, really enjoys Champions League, and happens to watch a whole lot of International football.

I recently had an exclusive with Alex Morgan, sitting down with her after a Youth Soccer clinic. I asked her about a few things, including English Premier League, Manchester United and Old Trafford.

I asked Alex Morgan about the Red Devils transition from Sir Alex Ferguson to David Moyes.

“I’ve gone through many coaches in my lifetime, there’s a always a difference in styles of play from a coach’s point of view, game management, everyone has their ways and I think that Manchester United in how successful they’ve been in how many years they’ve been a club, over a hundred years or something like that, I think they’ll do quite well,” Alex Morgan said.

She follows the PL a lot, but is not a fan of any specific Premier League team. Just a fan of good soccer. Her famous extra time, injury time game winning goal in the 2012 Olympics semi-final occurred at Old Trafford and sent the USWNT into the Gold Medal game.

The goal continued her propensity for late heroics in the closing stages of matches. Seventeen of her 28 total goals to date have come after the 60th minute. The game-winning goal was Morgan’s team-high 20th in 2012, becoming only the sixth and youngest U.S. player to do so in a single year. In the final, a 2–1 win against Japan on August 9, Morgan assisted on a Carli Lloyd header. She ended the tournament with 3 goals, and a team-high four assists (tied with Megan Rapinoe) and ten points.

“I always try and watch a match a day, at least a couple matches a week. Obviously Champions league is a big one for me, I typically clear my schedule to watch Champions League. on Saturday and Sunday you get a lot of games on NBC Sports and Fox Sports 1 and 2. There’s a lot more accessibility to soccer games on tv than their used to be five years, or even three years ago,” Alex Morgan said.
