It continues to be a very exciting summer at Manchester United, with plenty of topics to discuss. What offseason, right?
So let’s take a spin through the latest news and notes items making the rounds on the internet today.
-Yesterday the agent of Anthony Martial made it be known that his client wants to leave the club and move on. Martial has been linked in transfer rumors to Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and other clubs in 2018, but United are reportedly insistent that they do not wish to sell him. Here’s more via the Daily Mail.
It’s a long summer transfer window, so we’ll see who wins this clash of wills. It’s really unfortunate that Martial was snubbed by the France national team. While many would blame that on United manager Jose Mourinho for benching the Frenchman, you really got to point the finger at Les Bleus boss Didier Deschamps, who made some really head scratching choices in terms of who he selected over Martial.
-Sticking with a France international, we may see a return of Agent P this summer. Paul Pogba was very instrumental in recruiting his good friend Romelu Lukaku to the club last summer, and he’s been pegged to be a boon to player recruiting this summer too.
Pogba “can have a big impact on Manchester United’s summer transfer business, according to club great Dwight Yorke” via the Manchester Evening News.
Finally, today was the big Premier League fixture list reveal, and the Mirror writes that “the Red Devils have a gentle start to the campaign with games against only two direct rivals in their first nine games.” The article adds that Mourinho should be delighted by his draw today, after being “punished by the calendar” last season.
Of course, when doesn’t Mourinho gripe about the schedule makers? Or taking it further what manager doesn’t complain about the schedule?
Also, in case you missed it, Mourinho has said England has the potential to win it all this World Cup tournament.
