Liverpool still control their own destiny in the race for the top-4 despite a disappointing 0-0 draw against Southampton last weekend.
A missed penalty by James Milner cost Liverpool two points that would have given Liverpool a little more breathing room, but the Reds know that two wins will have them in Champions League next year.
Sunday at West Ham is the first of the final two tests, and it won’t easy for the Reds.
There are no questions in the back-four, as the unit has produced back-to-back clean sheets. If the unit can continue to play as they have been, it will be immense for the Reds.
The questions come with what should Liverpool do in their attack. Liverpool had been the highest scoring team in the PL for most of the year, but have struggled to score late in season, especially after Sadio Mane was hurt.
Adam Lallana is healthy, and after coming off the bench the last two weeks, should start to give Liverpool a boost right away.
The best spot for him to play is in the attacking right wing, moving Roberto Firmino into his more natural central position and keeping Coutinho on the right.
This would leave the midfield the same, especially with Jordan Henderson not fit to play.
If Jurgen Klopp decides to play him in the midfield, where he has played most of the season, that would slide out Lucas and put Emre Can in the No. 6 role. In that case, Daniel Sturridge could start up top in place of the struggling Divock Origi.
But rather than change too much of the line-up this late, the smart move is playing Lallana up front with the two Brazilians.
GK – Simon Mignolet
RB – Nathaniel Clyne CB- Joel Matip CB – Dejan Lovren LB – James Milner
MF – Georginio Wijnaldum MF – Lucas Leiva MF – Emre Can
RW – Adam Lallana FW – Roberto Firmino LW – Philippe Coutinho
