Forward isn’t the biggest position group of need for Liverpool, but they reportedly have a new transfer target in mind for potentially beefing up the front line. It’s Napoli striker Lorenzo Insigne, who is currently on the radar of the northwest England club, Rai Sport claims.
The 27-year-old Italian international has 116 goals in the 360 instances that he’s featured for Napoli. He’s also off to a red hot start this season, and naturally that will attract a fair number of potential new suitors.
One of those potential suitors? Well, it’s a club led by a man that Lorenzo Insigne knows quite well- Maurizio Sarri. The current Chelsea boss moved over from Napoli in the summer, and he just happens to be on the lookout for a pure striker right now, given the limitations of what he has at that position right now.
Alvaro Morata has not come close to living up to his expectations since he moved over from Real Madrid last summer. Olivier Giroud has some quality, but he’s not exactly elite. Plus Sarri has shown the ability to bring his former Napoli players over to Chelsea with him, as evidenced by Jorginho. Sarri’s up tempo, high-flying style is certainly very attractive to forwards.
So it looks like we could have a full fledged transfer battle going on here in January, or maybe in the summer, between Chelsea and Liverpool.
