There have certainly been many comebacks that have gone a whole lot smoother than this. Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana has definitely had much better days than today. Lallana was playing with the U23s against Tottenham Hotspur as he continued his recovery from a groin injury that has kept him out of Liverpool’s last three games.
After a challenge from Spurs midfielder George Marsh, Lallana absolutely lost it. He went after Marsh and started strangling his neck. He was shown a straight red card for trying to choke out his opponent, and he had to be restrained and taken away by teammates Danny Ings.
Here’s the video footage that is currently going crazy viral. It’s easy to see why:

It’s safe to say that Adam Lallana will be facing a multi-match ban now for this violent, and rather disgraceful act.
The 2017-18 campaign has definitely been a very difficult one for Lallana. A thigh issue suffered in the preseason forced him to miss the opening months of the season. He’s also had to deal with a muscular injury over the course of the season. So while you can feel a bit sorry for him on that dimension, what he did here tonight is deplorable and inexcusable. Now he’ll have to deal with the fallout from a major mess, one that he created all by himself.
