Dani Ceballos to Reportedly Have Arsenal Medical Ahead of Loan Move

Arsenal have yet to do anything of note this summer transfer window, so if/when the first major signing comes through it will be received with much fanfare. That first acquisition had been speculated to be William Saliba or Kieran Tierney, but instead could be neither of those.

Instead the first new significant arrival might be Dani Ceballos, on loan from Real Madrid. With the Emirates refusing to spend much this summer there hasn’t been and won’t be too much to talk about this silly season, and when we finally do have something to discuss, it will likely be loan deals, not permanent moves.

According to Sky Sports though:

“Ceballos is understood to be in London for a medical after the clubs agreed a deal. But Arsenal boss Unai Emery has admitted he does not know if the anterior cruciate ligament injury suffered by Asensio would have a knock-on effect on the deal for Ceballos.”

The two teams played an International Champions Cup friendly last night in Maryland, which resulted in a draw (Madrid won in PK shootout) with Asensio suffering the injury shortly after equalizing. So it remains to be seen whether or not last night’s development will kibosh this deal.

Ceballos, 22, was stellar for the Spanish U21 side as they won the Euros this summer, but even if this deal does happen, what about the Gunner’s leaky defense? That area of team need has not been addressed this summer, and until it is, don’t really expect Arsenal fan unrest to really subside any time soon.

As has been well documented, there is a ton of fan backlash against the Kroenke family that owns and runs the team.
