Ahead of the headliner fixture this Premier League weekend, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was full of praise for his opponents Chelsea. The Reds will travel to Stamford Bridge in search of their first win there since September of 2016.
Klopp said that Frank Lampard’s side is the only club that could handle a transfer ban (the west London side wasn’t allowed to sign players this summer, and will be prohibited again this winter), and that’s because of all their impressive young talent. Klopp said that with highly rated young players like Christian Pulisic, Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount, they have what it takes to cope.
Each of those players is supposedly worth over £60 million in the transfer market, with Abraham the league’s leading scorer thus far. Mount has gotten off to a great start too, but he is an injury doubt for this match.
Klopp knows Pulisic well, having signed him for Borussia Dortmund, when the American was just age 15 years old, in February of 2015. Klopp then left the club at the end of that season in May, and took the Liverpool job that October.
“He will be a proper player,” Klopp said of the 20 year old who is off to a rough start so far with Chelsea.
“He’s a talent, dynamic, good with both feet. Super exciting player, good signing.”
