The current conventional wisdom holds that Eden Hazard is the best player in England right now, and a debate can be had about whether not he could become the best in the world. Or at least many football observers believe that Hazard has the qualities to be the best player on Earth.
While Hazard is regularly topping individual Premier League player power rankings these days, he doesn’t even place himself within the top four. (Or if he does, he has too much modesty and class to publicly say so).
The Belgian was asked by SPORTbible: “What for you is the best player?” He responded by naming one of his teammates (the 2016-17 PFA Player of the Year), a Manchester City duo and last year’s PFA Player of the Year who plies his trade with Liverpool.
“Maybe for you it’s people who score more goals, another one is not thinking about that,” Eden Hazard responded.
“At the moment I’m good – if I’m the best, fine, If I’m not I don’t care. In the Premier League we have a lot of top players. (Sergio) Aguero is one of the best, (Kevin) De Bruyne is injured but he’s one of the best.”
“Mo Salah was the best last year, N’Golo (Kante) in the team is one of the best so we have a lot of good players.”
Hazard (who won the 2014-15 PFA Player of the Year Award) and Chelsea, who are undefeated in league play thus far, will take on Southampton this weekend.
