David Silva is set to move to Serie A side Lazio, with an announcement expected once Manchester City’s Champions League campaign ends. That’s according to reports in Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport.

Having joined City in the summer of 2010, Silva became a key figure in the Citizens rise to the top over the past decade. The midfielder has made 39 appearances so far this season and scored six goals as well.

Friday night sees a very highly anticipated UEFA Champions League clash when Real Madrid visits Manchester City. In the first leg of the two legs in this tie, City was victorious, by a score of 2-1, Madrid. A few days prior to that match, Eden Hazard sustained an ankle fracture, the second major injury that he’s suffered during his debut season at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The €100 million signing finally got his long awaited and much discussed dream move to Real, but his debut campaign with the La Liga giants has been a total nightmare. Pep Guardiola is getting his transfer business done early and often this summer transfer window, just the way he prefers it. Manchester City just announced, minutes ago, their second acquisition of the summer transfer window, AFC Bournemouth central defender Nathan Ake.

This comes on the heels of yesterday’s announcement that Spanish youngster Ferran Torres had been acquired from Valencia. Ake, 25, joins on a five year deal that is reportedly worth £41 million. Ake, a Dutch international with previous experience at Chelsea, Reading and Watford, is another summer buy that directly fills a need.

Man City Announce Ferran Torres Arrival from Valencia

With Leroy Sane off to Bayern Munich, Manchester City needed to add depth and talent on the wing, and the club addressed this need with their first signing of the summer transfer window.

Ferran Torres, 20, arrives from Valencia on a five year deal that was announced earlier today. The transfer fee was reported to be €23 million. “I am so happy to be joining City,” Torres said via a club statement.

Real Madrid will be without the services of striker Mariano when they visit Manchester City for the second leg of their UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie. The Spanish international has tested positive for the coronavirus, and he’ll now follow the protocol, and isolate at home for the next two weeks.

Although all venues will be incredibly limited, regarding media and staff, due to current social distancing guidance, and no fans will be allowed inside anywhere, the UEFA Champions League tournament will be just as anticipated as ever.

It all starts on August 7, with two matches kicking off at the same time, one of which might be the most exciting; at least on paper. It’s a little over a couple weeks until the UCL resumes, but you can circle one date already for sure.
