Manchester City GK Zack Steffen Tests Positive for COVID-19

Ahead of tonight’s World Cup qualifier, at home against Canada, a USMNT spokesperson revealed that USA No. 1 and Manchester City No. 2 Zack Steffen had tested positive for covid-19. Furthermore, the press officer said that the positive test came after the team traveled to El Salvador, where they battled the host country to a goalless draw.

Zack Steffen missed that match due to back spasms, and now he’ll have to enter covid-19 protocols and isolate for 10 days. Not that he was expected to play against Leicester City this upcoming Saturday, but he’s now essentially ruled out of that match.

Chelsea Star Christian Pulisic to Miss USA World Cup Qualifier

When the United States takes on El Salvador tonight in a World Cup qualifier, they will be without the services of the two players who suited up for the UEFA Champions League final at the end of May.

USMNT Coach Gregg Berhalter revealed that Chelsea wing Christian Pulisic and Manchester City goalkeeper Zack Steffen are out of commission for tonight’s match. Pulisic will stay in Nashville and work on his fitness levels after having had to quarantine for 10 days, following a positive test for covid-19.

Pep Guardiola Says Manchester City Won’t Sign Striker this Summer

Following his side’s thrashing of Arsenal FC 5-0 today, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola was asked about his team’s plans in what remains of the summer transfer window. The squad still does not have a true centre forward beyond Gabriel Jesus, as Tottenham talisman Harry Kane elected to stay put.

While they did break the British transfer fee record in signing Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish, they haven’t made a major signing beyond him, electing to opt out of their Cristiano Ronaldo pursuit at the end of this week. Ronaldo went back to his roots, returning to City’s cross-town rival, Manchester United.
