Manchester City Starting XI Prediction vs Southampton

Ralph Hasenhüttl will have had some sleepless nights this week. The Austrian head coach of Southampton faces the daunting challenge of welcoming the all-conquering Manchester City to St. Marys Stadium this weekend. Both sides find themselves amid some suitable form. Southampton has a proud 7 match undefeated run at St Mary’s.

That undefeated run faces its sternest test yet when they take on a Manchester City side who has won their last twelve games in a row. The last time City suffered defeat, it was Halloween. They have slaughtered all that has come before them since then.

Man City Team News vs Southampton: Mahrez, Delap, Ake, Zinchenko

Manchester City heads to the south coast to take on Southampton this weekend. After picking up what many are calling a decisive victory over Chelsea last weekend, City seems like Premier League champions-elect at this point. Pep Guardiola’s men have gone on an incredible twelve-match winning streak that has propelled them to the top of the table by some eleven points.

This twelve-match winning streak the Citizens find themselves on is even more impressive when you take on the aggregate score line of those matches. 34-7. Since losing to Crystal Palace in October, they have picked up 36 points, thirteen more than any other team in the division. [Read more…]

Man City Team News vs Chelsea: Stones, Sterling, Foden, Delap

As the omicron variant of the covid-19 virus runs roughshod over the world, and the United Kingdom in particular, we have seen a ton of postponed Premier League fixtures. It’s resulted in a crazy imbalanced schedule, and it’s made for an uneven table.

Three teams, including the top two who will square off tomorrow in Manchester City and Chelsea, have played 21 matches. Five more have played exactly 20 while six have staged 19 and four sides have registered 18 fixtures. Only one club, Burnley, have competed in just 17. It’s going to be weird the rest of the season, scheduling wise, as the league looks to get things all square.

Manchester City Starting XI Prediction vs Chelsea FC

Manchester City welcomes Chelsea to the Etihad Stadium this weekend. The Sky Blues will take on the Blues, hoping to win their twelfth straight Premier League fixture. Victory here would almost certainly guarantee the Citizen’s fourth Premier League title in five years.

A loss in this matchup would be terminal to Chelsea’s feint title chances. After being the pacesetters in the early stages of the competition, The Pensioners form has been middling. Believe it or not, their current Premier League form stinks!

Chelsea FC Starting XI Prediction at Manchester City

With both Ben Chilwell and Reece James out long term, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is short at wing-back right now. In this the year of the wing-back, it’s the wrong time to be in such a state, especially considering what’s up next- a visit to Manchester City.

This is simply do or die for the Blues, who are fresh off a midweek semifinal win in the Moose Cup over London rivals Tottenham.

Chelsea Team News at Manchester City: Mendy, Chalobah, James

For all intents and purposes, the Premier League title race probably ended last weekend, when Chelsea and Liverpool, the only two sides with a chance of catching Manchester City this season, played to a draw. It leaves City, who went unblemished in the festive fixture period, 10 points up on the Blues and 11 clear of Liverpool (who do have a game in hand though).

City hosts Chelsea to kick off the next round of fixtures, and a win here would pretty much make them champions-elect. A draw would probably put Chelsea on very thin ice too.

Manchester City Starting XI Prediction at Swindon Town (FA Cup)

With Manchester City Manager Pep Guardiola in isolation, assistant coach Rodolfo Borrell will lead the team tomorrow night at Swindon Town. Guardiola is among the 21 members of the club, including staff, who have tested positive for covid-19.

He’s reportedly doing okay, and if there’s a match in which he could use a rest, it’s probably this domestic cup clash against the League Two (the fourth tier of English football) side. Borrell said that filling out the line-up will be “easy.” and that he’ll mix first teamers with academy guys.

Manchester City commence their 2022 FA Cup campaign tomorrow night, with a third round clash at Swindon Town. While they will be very short-handed here, City are the favorite, according to Betway, to win this entire competition, typically backed at about 10/3. Pep Guardiola has tested positive for covid-19, as has assistant coach Juanma Lillo.

The coronavirus has hit the reigning Premier League champions hard, as seven first team players have tested positive, and the total case number, including staff is now up to 21. It means assistant coach Rodolfo Borrell will take charge of the side. City are not going to put in a request for postponement.

Arsenal FC vs Manchester City: Starting XI Predictions

Arsenal will play host to Manchester City on New Year’s Day. It’s a clash of the two sides currently in the hottest form in the entire league. It’s the perfect way to start 2022, as both sides have outstanding records in their first game of the year,  meaning that this promises to be a real showstopper.

Arsenal has lost just once in their last 10 games in the New Year round of the Premier League. Their one defeat came in 2015, when they fell to Southampton 2-0. The loss came while Arsene Wenger was still in the dugout; which now seems like a lifetime ago.
