sergio-aguero

Friday morning saw Manchester City announce that striker Sergio Aguero is going to be a major part of their long term plans. This despite his having to take a back seat to Gabriel Jesus at certain times over the course of the last two seasons. The club announced a new contract extension for the 30-year-old Argentine that will keep him at the Club until 2021.

“I am happy for this additional year,” Aguero told the club’s online web channel.  “My idea was being here for 10 years. I’ve been here for seven years, it’s going to be 10 when the contract expires. Hopefully, that’s going to happen. This was the main reason I signed.”

Evaluating Manchester City Prospects of Repeating as League Champions

MANCHESTER CITY

By Joseph Connolly

The swift free-flowing attack and the tactical prowess of Pep Guardiola had every fan of the Premier League awe-struck last season; as were the rivals. Right from the beginning of the season, the Catalan manager made his intentions clear, as his team kept smashing records and putting up video game numbers as they ended their Premier League campaign with a whopping 106 goals, earliest title win, most consecutive PL victories and plenty of other records too.

He has utilized his inherited family wealth to establish himself as an extremely successful business man, and completely transform Manchester City football club.

Applying Premier League Club Spending on a Personal Finance Level

british pounds

“Splash the cash” has certainly been the motto of the English Premier League’s biggest clubs in recent years as every summer transfer window sees new spending records get smashed. Then those new records which were just set get broken again the next summer, as the monetary figures we see reported in the news all the time keep skyrocketing.

Television broadcast rights for the game keep increasing exponentially. The same holds true for kit manufacturing deals. Merchandising income keeps going up. As clubs are seeing their income rise, so too has their spending. The biggest clubs have a lot of financial clout to wield, and we see this on multiple fronts, but most glaringly so in the transfer market.

Manchester City Release UEFA Champions League Squad List

manchester city

Yesterday saw the four English Premier League teams who qualified for UEFA Champions League release their squad lists for the 2018-19 competition. Manchester had an impressive showing last term as they advanced to the elite eight, but the end result was ultimately hugely disappointing.

With all that was accomplished last season, all the records that Pep Guardiola’s men broke, the quest now is to win Europe. City came, they saw and they conquered domestically. Now it’s time to bring that dominance to Europe. It all begins for Manchester City on Sept 19 when they host French side Lyon in the group stages of the competition.

According to various reports, his agent and mother Veronique had meetings with both Manchester clubs about a potential move. She’s also reportedly spoken with Juventus and Barcelona. Chelsea have been linked as well.

Manchester City Respond Well to Dropping Points, Remain League Favorites

MANCHESTER CITY

The reigning Premier League Champions, Manchester City, have already dropped two points this season by virtue of their draw with Wolverhampton Wolves last week. However, today’s showing at home versus Newcastle United is kind of what you were looking and hoping for if you’re a City supporter.

The Cityzens beat Newcastle 2-1 in a match where they absolutely dominated all the major statistics, but unfortunately failed to appropriately kill off the game. The 2-1 final score doesn’t do justice to just how much they thoroughly thrashed the Magpies on Saturday, but manager Pep Guardiola would have obviously liked to have seen his side finish off more chances and win by a wider margin.
