Paul Pogba Makes PFA Team of the Year, Liverpool and City Dominate Selections

paul pogba

The PFA Team of the Year has been selected for 2018-19 and Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is a very surprising inclusion. The Frenchman has had a very up-and-down season, putting up productive numbers overall, but often disappearing at the times that United need him the most.

Pogba, who clearly had a major rift with former manager Jose Mourinho, found himself often benched as the Portugese’s reign at United was coming to an end. Once Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over however, he was reborn and, for awhile at least, showcased the kind of form that is commensurate to his price tag. [Read more…]

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Labels City “best team in the country” after Derby Loss

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has labeled the team across town the best in the country after they beat his side 2-0 today in the Old Trafford portion of the 2018-19 Manchester derby. City also took the reverse fixture 3-1 this season meaning that the blue side of Manchester beat their intra-city rivals 5-1 on aggregate this season as they move ever closer towards claiming an elusive treble.

With the win, City went one point up on Liverpool at the top of the table. “They had too much for us,” Solskjaer said after the defeat, his seventh in the last nine (after having started off with 14 wins in 17). [Read more…]

After the disastrous loss at Everton on Easter Sunday, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer openly questioned the desire and motivation of his own players.

Tomorrow’s Manchester derby at Old Trafford has a whole lot on the line for the both sides. Manchester City need a win to maintain control of their own destiny in the Premier League title race. Manchester United need all three points, and some help, to get themselves back into the top four.

City come into this match as overwhelming favorites, and it’s easy to understand why- they have been dominant in the new year and United are coming off the worst loss of the post-Fergie era.

Manchester City Starting XI Prediction (Manchester Derby)

manchester city

Manchester City won the home edition of the Manchester derby this season 3-1 back in November, and they are heavily favored to take reverse fixture as well. If United, who looked as shambolic as possible on Easter Sunday in a 4-0 loss to Everton are to win at Old Trafford in mid-week, it would be a massive upset.

The only good thing that could be said about United’s dismal showing yesterday is that they have no more time to dwell on it and must move on quickly. For City, they have to win in order to stay on pace with Liverpool for the league title, so they will certainly head into the rescheduled Manchester derby with guns blazing.

Manchester United Starting XI Prediction (Manchester Derby)

You know circumstances are really dire when the manager of a given football team 1.) feels compelled to apologize to all the supporters of the side and 2.) openly questions whether or not the players actually even care right now.

Yet that is the state in which we, all who follow Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Manchester United, find ourselves right now. On one hand, facing the juggernaut that is Manchester City, especially at a time like this when they are highly motivated, it certainly not the way to fix what is broken.
