Chelsea Football Club as the latest international football team to join the first-of-its-kind collaboration between The Simpsons and the most popular sport in the world, soccer. Joining FC Barcelona, FC Zenit Saint Petersburg, Sport Club Corinthians, FC Porto, Juventus and Boca Juniors, Chelsea Football Club will co-create a broad line of branded merchandise.
Chelsea FC guest starred on a World Cup themed episode that aired in March 2014.
The plot involved Homer and his recruitment as a soccer referee, after Lisa praises his integrity in a Springfield Elementary speech contest held on the youth soccer field. The family eventually traveled from Springfield to the World Cup in Brazil.
Chelsea’s appearance is part of a collaboration with Twentieth Century FOX Consumer Products that will create Chelsea-branded, “Simpsonized” merchandise. Products featuring “Simpsonized” Chelsea FC stars, such as Frank Lampard, John Terry and Petr Cech will soon be available to consumers.
Chelsea FC one of the world’s top football clubs. UEFA Champions League winners in 2012, Chelsea FC followed that success by lifting the UEFA Europa League trophy in 2013. Founded in 1905, Chelsea is London’s most central football club, based at the iconic 42,000-capacity Stamford Bridge stadium.
