Ex Chelsea MGR Ancelotti Wants to Manage in Premier League Next Year

Carlo Ancelotti was rumored to be a leading candidate for the Manchester United managerial position once Old Trafford sacked David Moyes. Obviously, United went with Louis van Gaal instead. With Liverpool hiring Jurgen Klopp last month, Ancelotti is now, without a doubt, the best manager currently on the free market.

The former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss certainly has the best CV of anybody out there, and he’s stated that he wants back into the Barclay’s Premier League.

Ancelotti told BBC Radio Five live’s Sportsweek programme he would “try to find another club next season.”

He’s currently living in Vancouver. Since being sacked by Real Madrid, Ancelotti has been on leave, as he recently underwent back surgery.

“I had a fantastic experience in France and Spain,” he said.

“The most important thing is to find a club with a good project and be competitive. If it’s in England, it’s better.

Just a month ago, in an interview with an Italian media outlet, Ancelotti said this:

“I would like to go back to the Premier League. It is the ideal environment not for football, but for the ‘game’ around football,” he said.

“You can work there with the right amount of pressure and with the necessary detachment and calm. Before I retire, I’d like to have another experience in England.”

“The vacation continues at least until the end of the year, then I’ll start again.”

This development inevitably invites speculation on where he could/should sign. Well, it depends on which club has an opening and also happens to be a big enough job for a boss of his pedigree and prestige.

“Where will I go? Where they call me. I will talk, evaluate and then decide. Up until a few weeks ago I was scared someone would call, but now the return is getting closer,” Ancelotti continued.

“Unless something strange happens. I am ready to get back on the bike in January.”

Ancelotti led Chelsea from 2009-2011, winning the Premier League and FA Cup. Despite the awful start, and currently dire straits at Stamford Bridge, Jose Mourinho has been given a vote of confidence from Chelsea Owner Roman Abramovich. The 56-year-old Ancelotti managed Real Madrid from 2013-15, after managing Paris Saint Germain from 2011-13.
