The January transfer window is open, so let the rumors fly fast and furious. With Antonio Conte and his Chelsea side, the tabloids seem to enjoy linking him to his former players at Juventus, no matter how unrealistic the scenario might be. Conte has talked up how much he would like to have Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal on his side, whom he managed at Juve.
There has been speculation about defender Giorgio Chiellini, a player Conte once tutored, with both Juventus and Italy. However the Blues boss dismissed the idea of a Stamford Bridge transfer for the 33-year-old.
Ahead of tomorrow night’s London derby at the Emirates, Conte had this to say on the possibility of signing Chiellini:
“No. Giorgio is a fantastic player but I think he wants to finish his career at Juventus. I think it’s right to finish his career in this way.
“A lot of speculation is normal when the transfer window starts. It’s a difficult moment for every coach,” he continued.
“In this period we must be very focused on our target and we need to find the right concentration for the transfer market.”
When it comes to the back line and Chelsea this transfer window, it’s not a buy, but a sale narrative that consistently keeps surfacing. We’re speaking of course about Blues defender David Luiz, and Conte had the following to say about that situation today (go to this link).
