Happy January transfer window deadline day, football fans. While Manchester United have not signed a single player this transfer window, and aren’t linked to adding anyone before the deadline hits tonight, they did make a major announcement regarding their player roster today.

It’s an own goal of sorts, as they extended the contract of talented and stellar young forward Anthony Martial. The 23-year-old Frenchman sees his new deal keeping him at the club until 2024; with a club option to add another year on top of that. Martial, who had been very publicly considering leaving Old Trafford this past summer, has now done a total u-turn. Once again he’s loving life at MUFC.

That’s what happens when a manager you don’t get along with, who doesn’t care for maximizing young talent, leaves the club. He also has a great mentor right now in caretaker boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The 2015 summer transfer window deadline day signing is now playing under his third manager at the club, and come summer time, could see a fourth.

While there has been plenty of change for Anthony Martial during his time in northwest England, the left wing says that he has felt a part of the family since day one.

“I am loving my time at this club. From the day I joined I have been made to feel part of the United family and I have been incredibly humbled and overwhelmed by the warmth and love of our fans, who continue to amaze me with their support,” Anthony Martial is quoted in the club’s announcement post.

“I would like to thank Ole and his coaching staff for their belief in me and for helping me to take my game to the next level.

“This club is all about winning trophies and I am sure the next piece of silverware is not that far away.”
