Ryan Giggs Says You Shouldn’t Bet on Him Becoming the Next United Boss

Manchester United club legend Ryan Giggs was asked to comment on the odds of his becoming the next Red Devils manager being slashed. The former assistant manager under Louis van Gaal and current Wales boss says that’s a bad investment.

“I would keep your money in your pocket if I were you,” he responded.

Giggs, who served as interim boss for four games in 2014 after David Moyes got the sack, also gave a vote of confidence to the current incumbent, the very embattled Jose Mourinho.

Through the first three games, United are in 13th place and off to their worst start since 1993. Still Ryan Giggs is calling on the United community to stand by their manager.

“It is a time for the fans to stick together and get behind [the team]. “It is a tough time at the moment, but we have had tough times before and got through it,” Giggs said. “Burnley was one of the games where I was setting up the cones before the game and I thought: ‘I wouldn’t mind playing today.’

“It is a fantastic game to get rid of all that negativity around the club. Purely speaking as a fan, I hope we get through it sooner rather than later.”

Widespread reports indicate that United have no interest in even considering the idea of sacking Mourinho right now, but that hasn’t stopped speculation on who the Portugese’ replacement could be.

Former Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is the favorite, as there have even been reports that Zidane is confident he’ll get the gig. Other names being thrown out as potential replacements are listed below:
