Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Rutgers Coach Greg Schiano denies that he witnessed a sexual molestation at Penn State in the 1990s.
Schiano, currently the Defensive Coordinator at Ohio State Tweeted this out today:
In response to media reports from earlier today:
I never saw any abuse, nor had reason to suspect any abuse, during my time at Penn State.— Greg Schiano (@GregSchiano) July 12, 2016
With this Tweet, Schiano is disputing the court testimony of that specific witness. He is effectively accusing that witness of perjury.
According to court documents unsealed and made public today, Joe Paterno had knowledge, as far back as 1976 that Jerry Sandusky was raping boys, and Paterno did absolutely nothing to try and stop it. If you weren’t already crystal clear in your knowledge that Paterno was aware of Sandusky’s serial child rape and complicit, you are now.
This situation is completely cut and dry. There is no gray area here.
Sandusky’s deplorable actions were known to multiple members of the coaching staff, and consistently brought to Paterno’s attention. Take the testimony of former PSU QB, and later assistant coach Mike McQueary, who was a quasi whistle blower in this situation.
And excerpt, via the Chicago Tribune, details what Greg Schiano, McQueary and Paterno’s interim successor, Tom Bradley, knew about Sandusky:
“McQueary said Bradley told him that he’d been approached by someone in the ’80s who saw Sandusky “doing something to a boy” and that in the ’90s, former assistant coach Greg Schiano saw Sandusky in the shower with a boy.
“Greg had come into his office white as a ghost and said he just saw Jerry doing something to a boy in the shower,” McQueary testified.”
