Remember last summer and the daily David de Gea transfer saga updates? The prolonged tedious soap opera, like Arturo Vidal the summer before it, seemed to drag out forever without closure. We won’t have to deal with that this summer; thankfully. 2016 won’t bring us a daily dose of “Will he stay at Manchester United, or move to Real Madrid?”
According to Marca, Los Blancos have conceded that De Gea will remain at Old Trafford this season, as they’re no longer pursuing him. The story was a big part of the ESPN FC daily transfer talk coverage on Friday.
Marca writes that Real “will not be enlisting David De Gea as Zinedine Zidane remains committed to Keylor Navas. The Costa Rican goalkeeper has enjoyed a wonderful campaign with Los Cules, convincing the Frenchman of his talents in the process…A meeting held between the shot-stopper’s agent Jorge Mendes and Real’s hierarchy confirmed that the club’s goalkeeping options will not change this summer.”
Last summer, De Gea’s dream transfer to his hometown team fell apart at the last 11th hour on deadline day due to a fax machine snafu. The De Gea transfer saga had many unpredictable twists and turns, like playing games on bingo sites that have Zuma slot. You just never knew what was going to happen! The wild final result to the transfer saga seemed like a fitting end. Not long afterward, De Gea moved past it, got it all together and signed a lucrative extension with United.
