In the words of Homer J. Simpson, “ohhhhh (groans), the Denver Broncos?!?!”
Hey, this year we don’t have to sit through a Denver Broncos infested Super Bowl. And (at least partially) because of that, the Mile High Club are looking to fill their coaching vacancy. Gary Kubiak will now officially succeed John Fox in that role.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, early Sunday Morning on Gary Kubiak and the Denver Broncos
“Gary Kubiak is the clear favorite to become the Broncos head coach; of course, the Ravens offensive coordinator now and the former Broncos offensive coordinator and close friend of John Elway. The plan today is for Elway and Kubiak to get together, watch some football and have a job interview.
“This is an option they knew was available when they decided to part ways with John Fox just last week. This is something that they certainly anticipated.”
“It so clear and evident that Kubiak is the favorite to take this job that some of the candidates – Doug Marrone and Teryl Austin – pulled out after hearing John Elway’s words. They think Kubiak is getting it too.”
Since this report, multiple sources have confirmed Kubiak-to-the-Broncos is on. And Fox of course took the Chicago Bears job.
Klein Kubiak, Gary’s son Tweeted later that evening:
“Welcome home dad! #Broncos #BroncosNation pic.twitter.com/Q0cHb11IKZ“
Baltimore Ravens quarterbacks coach Rick Dennison and tight ends coach Brian Pariani will follow Kubiak to Denver.
“I think it would be a good thing to own the Denver Broncos. Tell me why it’s not” — Marge Simpson
“Oh, you just don’t understand football Marge.” That means the last team to fill their coaching vacancy will be the Atlanta Falcons; who will choose Dan Quinn.
