Barkley on Tebow’s Big Win: “National Nightmare Continues”

Charles Barkley has been here before. Calling out the national media, and America in general for the insane hype and romanticizing of Tim Tebow.

Previously, he asked the Chicago Bears to stop this madness. The non-stop publicity bullet train that seems to only be getting faster.

Now Barkley, the new Weight Watchers pitchman and co-host on TNT’s “Inside The NBA,” has taken time to comment on Tebow’s big win. (Because the Denver Broncos are the Denver Tebows now, that’s just reality of the world we live in)

As much as I agree with Chuckles about how insanely over-blown the media coverage of Tebow has been, it’s still funny to hear a guy who just appeared on The Daily Show” and even hosted “Saturday Night Live” talk about someone being overexposed.

From the Huffington Post:

Talking to Mike Missanelli 97.5 the Fanatic in Philadelphia on Tuesday, Barkley was asked about Tebow and the Broncos’ improbable overtime victory over the Steelers in the Wild Card round of the NFL Playoffs.

“The national nightmare continues. Hey, listen, I like Tim Tebow but there comes a point, he had a great game. He’s supposed to have a great game,” Barkley said.

Missanelli then asked Barkley if he has had enough of Tebow.

“I think the world has,” Barkley replied. “First of all, Mike, I don’t know anything you said about Tebow but let’s just say the jury is still out on Tebow. He seems like a nice kid but these ups and downs are so different. The jury is still out on Tebow. Just because he had a great game and made four or five great throws yesterday doesn’t mean he’s gonna be a great starting quarterback in the NFL.”

As you’ve heard 10 quadrillion times by now, the Denver Tebows are taking on the New England Patriots Saturday in the divisional round. We still four days till kickoff, so we’ll hear about the Patriots vs. the Tebows at least 25 quadrillion more times between now and then.

The Pats won the last meeting, in Denver that time, very convincingly. Barkley’s friends at SNL felt very confident New England would take that one. Although not for reasons you might expect.

Get ready, if Tebow pulls off this upset, the internet may crash, and every television will devote all it’s programming to Tebow 24/7.
