Tim Tebow’s Pastor: Broncos Winning Streak is “God’s Favor”

jesus-tebow

You knew this was coming. Eventually, someone would dare to be stupid enough to say this. Especially after yesterday, when the Chicago Bears (SPECIFICALLY MARION BARBER) gave away a game to the Denver Broncos and Tim Tebow. The collapse was so unlikely and so one-sided in the final two minutes that you just knew some idiot would claim this game was “God’s will.”

This comment is so bad, I’m sure Tim Tebow himself will back away from these comments.

Will Jesus Help Tim Tebow Win the Superbowl? A Brief History of God-Fearing NFL Players

tim tebow

Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow has taken much criticism for his God-fearing, I-Heart-Jesus ways.

(Guest post from Kent Page McGroarty)

From SNL skits featuring Jesus in the Broncos’ locker room to NFL players mocking “Tebowing,” or when Tebow drops to one knee to say a quick prayer, it seems Tebow gets just as much press for his religious beliefs as he does for his stats. Now that Tebow and the Broncos have secured their place opposite the New England Patriots in the NFL playoffs, critics are wondering how many more times the quarterback is going to thank that big sports fan in the sky for his success on the football field. Though Tebow is arguably the most vocal quarterback in NFL history concerning his faith, he is certainly not the first player to go on (and on) about his love-slash-fear of God.

He’s just the most annoying.

Poll: 43% of Americans Believe Tim Tebow Success Comes From Divine Intervention

jesus-tebow

As coverage of Tim Tebow threatens to take over all television networks and overload all web servers, a company called Poll Position wanted to know how many Americans believe divine intervention is at least partly responsible for the success of the controversial Denver Broncos quarterback.

After Tebow led the Broncos to an OT playoff win over the Pittsburgh Steelers last weekend, radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh attributed the victory to divine intervention in favor of Tebow, triggering a discussion about whether God took sides in the game. (And you know if Rush says it….because talking about Tebow isn’t polarizing enough, we had to throw Limbaugh in this as well)

Barkley on Tebow’s Big Win: “National Nightmare Continues”

tim-tebow

Charles Barkley has been here before. Calling out the national media, and America in general for the insane hype and romanticizing of Tim Tebow.

Previously, he asked the Chicago Bears to stop this madness. The non-stop publicity bullet train that seems to only be getting faster.

Now Barkley, the new Weight Watchers pitchman and co-host on TNT’s “Inside The NBA,” has taken time to comment on Tebow’s big win. (Because the Denver Broncos are the Denver Tebows now, that’s just reality of the world we live in)

As much as I agree with Chuckles about how insanely over-blown the media coverage of Tebow has been, it’s still funny to hear a guy who just appeared on The Daily Show” and even hosted “Saturday Night Live” talk about someone being overexposed.

Broncos, Tebow, Tebowing HUGE in Taiwan (Video)

tebow christ

Tim Tebow and the trend of Tebowing is going world wide. You knew it was only a matter of time until the Taiwanese animators we all know and love made their spin on it.

Tebow is one of the NFL’s most polarizing players, and his signature prayer-celebration, referred to as Tebowing, has replaced planking as a national fad. The Broncos have gone 3-1 (the one a 45-10 drubbing by the Detroit Lions) since he replaced former Boilermakers and Chicago Bears star Kyle Orton as starting quarterback.

College Basketball: The Week That Was (12/19/11)

indiana beats kentucky

College Hoops 101 has undergone a facelift.  My weekly breakdown of the past week in college basketball and look ahead will now be split into two parts.  Since I was enjoying a much needed week vacation in Mexico, here is a glance at the past two weeks of games I watched.  The numbers are uncharacteristically low but when you are on a beach everyday in 80-plus degree weather, you don’t really want to be inside watching hoops.  Yes, I just wrote that.  This week’s edition includes my thoughts on the Xavier/Cincinnati brawl, Indiana’s upset of Kentucky, and my Dunk of the Week.

Charles Barkley Asks Chicago Bears to Stop Tim Tebow Hype

jesus-tebow

Sick of the non-stop Tim Tebow talk/coverage? Tired of the Denver Broncos QB who: wins with a very unorthodox style and mentions God/Jesus/The Lord/savior/his spirituality so much that if you were playing a drinking game for those words while watching a Tebow interview you’d die from alcohol poisoning within the first couple minutes?

Well, Charles Barkley sure is. And he wants the Chicago Bears to do something about it this Sunday.
