Hard to believe this rumor from the Daily Mirror, but they must have some sources or credibility behind it. James Wilson starting over Robin van Persie? What could possibly be Louis van Gaal’s rationale in making a decision such as this? Yes, RVP has gotten off to a slow start, but it’s not anything catastrophic. Certainly nothing that would warrant his drop from the starting XI versus Crystal Palace.
From the Daily Mirror, obviously:
Robin van Persie’s place is under threat this weekend – with young Manchester United striker James Wilson ready to step in.
United boss Louis van Gaal is considering giving Wilson his first start of the season against Crystal Palace on Saturday – with Van Persie the likely fall-guy.
(By the way, here is video of RVP playing football with some kids on the streets of Manchester.
Obviously, Van Perse and Van Gaal are more than just fellow countrymen. They’re close friends. I guess James Wilson must really be impressing Van Gaal right now. If this is true, then it certainly would send a message that no player is above losing his starting job. No one.
