According to the most respected journalist in all of Spanish football, Guillem Balague, the David De Gea paperwork did not arrive in time for the transfer deadline. That means De Gea stays at Manchester United.
The long, drawn out, ridiculously protracted and exceedingly tedious soap opera of a transfer saga is now FINALLY OVER.
We have closure at long last, and Real Madrid are just S.O.L.
Balague, of AS, Yahoo Sports UK, Sky Sports and much more confirmed it; and now multiple outlets are going with it.

So what was the deal that was supposed to happen, but didn’t? Here’s our previous post on that. Basically, United were to get a large amount of money, estimated at $44.5 million, plus Real’s back-up goalkeeper, Keylor Navas in return. Considering there was only one year left on the current De Gea deal, it was considered a good value. Well, as good a value as you could hope for when you realize that you’re giving up one of the three best goalkeepers in the world.
The two clubs had 1,506 hours to get the De Gea deal done yet failed to do so.
