Liverpool Showcase Signature Inconsistency in Crazy 48 Hour Span

Liverpool gonna Liverpool, as they say. You couldn’t ask for a more better display of what we’ve come to see from Liverpool Football Club, the maddeningly inconsistent, than what we’ve just experienced in the past 48 hours. Liverpool FC beat Manchester City, a top four and champions league side, the preseason favorite to win the Premier League title, on New Year’s Eve.

By the time we fully digested and analyzed that fixture, it was already time to preview the next one, against one of the worst sides in the entire league- Sunderland.

What could happen?

Well, I think this tweet below says it all:

Sunderland are currently 18th now, having taken a point from the Reds, and squarely in the relegation zone. Liverpool FC boss Jurgen Klopp said heading into this match that fixture congestion, and all the severe issues that come with it, will not be any excuse.

“I will make a line-up when the medical department gives me the opportunity to,” Klopp said about his team’s match fitness status given the lack of the rest, during his prematch press opportunities.

“If I have no choice, then the players which are fit will play. That’s how it is. (There are] no excuses for anybody. We have to deliver, and we will deliver.”

Still, you really have to feel for Klopp and Liverpool FC, they did get royally screwed with the schedule. It’s totally unfair what the league did to them, with the extremely fast turnaround. It’s not a justification, or a valid excuse, but it is unfair.
