Aaron Cosby was the Seton Hall Pirates second leading scorer during his sophomore season, averaging 12.6 points per game. After living the Big East program, he appeared to have many potential landing places. Then Aaron Cosby limited it to just the Illini and Mizzou. Well, The Cosby Show is officially coming to Illini basketball.

How’s that for “Braggin Rights,” Missouri?

“I really like Illinois’ playing style, and I was looking for comfort with the head coach, the staff and location. Aaron Cosby told IlliniHQ.com. “I have that with Illinois. I had a chance to sit down with Coach Groce and the staff already a couple of times. They came to my house and talked to my family, so I’m looking forward to getting there and seeing everything.”

John Groce, the Ohio Bobcats head coach at the time, had recruited Aaron Cosby when he was at Northfield Mount Hermon (Mass.) in 2011. Two years later, Groce finally landed the Louisville, Ky. product. Groce has made a pretty big splash with recruiting in his first season. Landing Drake transfer Rayvonte Rice was key. And he hauled in Simeon Wolverines star Kendrick Nunn.

Aaron Cosby will have two years of eligibility left after transferring, but he’ll have to sit out this one.

In 65 career games at Seton Hall, he averaged 10.1 points 2.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game.  Last season, Cosby made 27 starts and averaged 12.6 points per game. The 6-2, 190-pound Cosby was at his best in big games. He scored 22 points in the Pirates’ loss to Syracuse in the Big East Conference second round and 21 in their win over Villanova on Feb. 25.
