Tottenham Hotspur 6, Everton 2 News and Notes: Pickford, Kane, Son, Alli, Eriksen

Sunday saw Tottenham Hotspur dominate at Everton, winning resoundingly by a margin of 6-2 which marked the highest scoring game of the Premier League season thus far. It also saw Tottenham Hotspur’s fab four (Dele Alli, Harry Kane, Son Heung-Min and Christian Eriksen) all score in the same contest for the first time.

Half the fab four, Son and Kane, bagged a brace. Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, a World Cup hero with England this summer, was anything but heroic today, as he conceded six goals. His name is a top trending term on social media right now, and for all the wrong reasons.  Check out this horrible gaffe here, but also the fantastic finish by Son.

Forget Pickford. That finish from Son is world class.?#Spurs

Pickford making such a terrible mistake naturally prompted football fans all over the world to remember his infamous comment about Liverpool’s expensive and stellar goalkeeper Alisson.

“I won’t blunder like Alisson,” Pickford said earlier this season, in reference to the Brazilian’s sometimes risky behavior. Well, given how Alisson has conceded only seven times this season, and Pickford gave up six just today, you knew Twitter users everywhere were going to have some fun with this.

Kane scored in the 42′ and 74′ minute today, and we also learned on Sunday that he’s going to be awarded an OBE from the Queen of England.

Dele Alli suffered an injury scare in this match, but according to manager Mauricio Pochettino the Englishman’s withdrawing from the match may not be serious at all.

“ He didn’t feel a big problem. Maybe a little bit tired from Wednesday,” said Poch. “I hope it’s not a big issue. It was a precaution.”

Finally, check out this beauty of a goal from Christian Eriksen, which placed him above Gareth Bale in Premier League goals scored for Tottenham.
