Tottenham Hotspur destroyed Apoel Nicosia in UEFA Champions League Group play yesterday 3-0, and all those goals came from a Harry Kane hat trick. The 24-year-old Englishman has done so much for the north London club, serving as the proverbial “face of the franchise.”
Kane has developed into one of the world’s talented and most productive strikers, as he now has 34 goals in his last 30 appearances for Spurs. He accomplished his sixth hat trick in Cyprus Tuesday night. Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo each have two.
After the big win on Tuesday, Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris went there, comparing Harry Kane to both Messi and Ronaldo.
“In every big team you have a big goalscorer. In Tottenham it is Harry Kane,” Hugo Lloris said.
“I think for him he has got a lot of things to prove in the Champions League. He shows his quality and skills at the moment.
“Five goals in two games is fantastic and hopefully he will carry on in the same way for him and the team. We are not surprised about Harry, we know his talent, his skills, his aptitude to score goals and important goals. He is our main player, like in top teams, in Real Madrid you have Ronaldo, in Barca you have Messi.”
Kane certainly is the biggest and brightest star at White Hart Lane, there is no denying it. With five goals in UCL competition thus far, he’s Europe’s leading scorer, one ahead of both Ronaldo and Messi.
When you look at all the numbers that he’s put up in the last couple years, you can see why he has a bromance going on right now with manager Mauricio Pochettino.
