Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has now weighed in on the Paul Pogba transfer saga, and in doing so he vehemently defended the heart, soul, pride and professionalism of his midfielder. Pogba, without question the best and most talented player on United, has often been blasted by fans and media alike for his work ethic, demeanor and dedication.
He’s also been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer, with his agent Mino Raiola claiming that a transfer is in the process. Raiola also made comments yesterday overtly slamming the club while Pogba himself openly pined for a move away earlier this summer.
Solskjaer says he doesn’t have any issues with the Frenchman however. The Norwegian said that he’s not aware of any offers being made for the player either.
“Paul has never been a concern for me. When he is on the pitch, he is working hard, he is a true professional and he is a proud boy,” Solskjaer responded when asked about the most expensive player in English history.
“I can’t be sitting here talking about Paul all the time and what agents are saying. We have got a few years left of his contract and, for me, he has been fantastic when he has come back in training. There is an agenda against Paul but he is a top, top bloke.”
These comments were made at a news conference at the WACA cricket ground in Australia, where the team is currently on preseason tour.
“He is a great professional, there have never been any problems and he has got a heart of gold,” Solskjaer added.
He also said the club doesn’t need to sell Pogba, or anybody else for that matter.
“We’re Man United and we don’t need to sell our players,” Solskjaer continued. “We don’t have any bids for our players. Paul has never put himself out of the team, he’s always given his best and I can’t report anything but that.”
“There is agent talk all the time and as I said we’ve not had any bids, that’s all I can say for this matter.”
