Manchester United travel to Brighton & Hove Albion, to take on the Seagulls in Premier League action on Sunday. So let’s take a spin through the latest Manchester United news, notes and transfer rumors items making the rounds on the internet right now.

–We start with want away defender Matteo Darmian, who appears to be staying put at Old Trafford, at least until January. The only potential suitors for him are all in Italy, and the Serie A transfer window will be closing in a little over an hour, with no traction at all on a potential move for Darmian.

Promising midfielder Andreas Pereira showcased his potential in the season opening win over Leicester City. In a very revealing interview with Sky Sports (transcription by Metro), the Belgian born budding star lifts the lid on why he left the club last season to go on loan with Valencia.

“I learned a lot of things being on my own, I lived on my own there, and it’s different than living over here.”

“I’m more professional now, I know what my body needs every day, I’m more mature now than I was two years ago. ‘They’ve been really good for me, I think I’ve totally changed as a player and a human being after these two years.”

The main highlights of today’s Mourinho press session were the responses the Portugese gave about his relationship with Paul Pogba. Basically he said the widespread reports of a falling out between the two men were lies.

Mourinho also finally stated who this year’s captain will be- Antonio Valencia. While the defender is out injured, Pogba will serve as captain.

‘We thought, I think it was before the game against Basel, Pogba is a young guy, with a good personality, made in the academy, normally a starting line-up player, so he has the conditions to be a captain in the future,” said Mourinho.

“In the continuity of this, with no Antonio (Valencia) in the team, he was the captain and for the next match I don’t think Antonio’s going to play, so he’ll be the captain again. ‘But one day when Antonio comes back, Antonio will be the captain again.”
