Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian has made his feelings clear this summer that he wants out. United manager Jose Mourinho has made it known that he will allow the Italian international to leave the club if he so desires. However, it doesn’t look like the defender is going anywhere.

He’s been linked this summer with moves to Juventus, Napoli and Inter Milan, but with the Italian transfer window set to close in less than three hours, there is no movement to report. It looks like Darmian isn’t returning to his home country, and he’s staying put until January, at the very least.

“I don’t think he will go,” Mourinho said a couple hours ago at his weekly news conference

“He cannot have any bad feeling towards us because we opened the door in case his desire was to go, but it looks like it’s not going to end in a transfer. For me, it’s good news that Matteo is staying. He is always an option for us. He’s a reliable player.”

“We know what his performance level is. He always does a job for the team at right back, left back, starting team, on the bench. He’s a fantastic professional. He’s a guy that is loved in the group. In the end it is good news if he is not leaving.”

Matteo Darmian wore the captain’s arm band for one of United’s preseason friendlies in the United States this summer.
