Luke Shaw Gives Optimistic Update on Head Injury He Suffered Last Night

You got to feel for Luke Shaw. The outside defender for Manchester United and England has suffered a slew of injuries in his career, one of which was extremely serious and gruesome (the broken leg that he suffered in two places during a Champions League game against PSV Eindhoven in 2015, which kept him out for 11 months).

Shaw has come back from all of the setbacks though and this early season he had regained fine form on the pitch.

Shaw, who had fallen far out of favor for both club and country, has won back his place for both England and United. Thus, your heart just had to hurt for him when you saw him suffer this scary head injury last night in Three Lions’ 2-1 loss to Spain in UEFA Nations competition.

The good news is the injury is not as serious as it looks. England manager Gareth Southgate said postgame: “Luke is up and talking and needs to be assessed.”

“Thank for for all the love and support,” Shaw posted on Twitter. “I am doing fine and in the best hands. I’m a fighter so I will be back soon.”

The specifics of his injury are not known at this time, and obviously neither is a time table for his return.

Thank you for all the love and support I am doing fine and am in the best hands. I’m a fighter so I will be back soon! ???

Luke Shaw had been making his first appearance for England since March of 2017.
