Louis van Gaal Again Upset With How Media Are Covering Him

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal was again surly and defensive with the media today. Not nearly as bad as the post match press conference at Tottenham, but again he did not enjoy being asked about his future at the club. Earlier this month, former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson sprung to the defense of the under-fire Dutchman and urged fans to be patient during the club’s current tribulations.

Van Gaal has also secured endorsements from Sir Bobby Charlton, executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward, managing director Richard Arnold and director David Gill. Although it’s now been reported in several outlets that the United board is privately turning against Van Gaal with the team in serious danger of missing out on UEFA Champions League.

With former Chelsea Manager Jose Mourinho potentially waiting in the wings, there’s been claims that board members are now warning to the idea of bringing in The Special One. Amidst numerous conflicting reports that Mourinho may be in line to usurp Van Gaal this summer, the former Chelsea and Real Madrid supposedly remains confident that he’s taking over at Old Trafford this summer.

Here’s the Louis van Gaal weekly news conference from earlier today, via YouTube:

(the exchange about his job security, transcribed below, starts around the 2:45 mark in the video embedded above)

“You can ask every time the same question about what is happening with me, but I don’t discuss it with the media,” Van Gaal said.

“The media is writing that, but it’s not my problem. That is your problem. I read only about my position in the media, not other managers’ positions.”
