It was the incessant transfer rumor story line of summer 2014- then Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal potentially moving to Manchester United. The protracted “will he or won’t he” transfer saga went on all summer, breaking the internet along the way. Media markets in three countries- Italy, England and Chile covered it incessantly as there were reports that Vidal even underwent a medical for United.
Of course, it never happened as Vidal reiterated that he was happy at Juve and wanted to stay….However that was short lived.
Vidal, who spent four years in the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen, said that he just could not turn down the opportunity to play for Bayern Munch Manager Pep Guardiola.
“Yes, there was a chance to come to England,” Arturo Vidal told The Times. “It was last summer, and at one point, we thought that is what would happen.”
“I liked the opportunity that they had offered me, but eventually it did not happen and I chose to come to Bayern. There are always many teams around that go to my agent.”
“I wanted to come to a team this strong and to a project that is so ambitious. I feel very happy.”
“It helped that I knew what the country was like and what the people were like.”
Arturo Vidal joined Bayern in a 37 million Euro deal in July. He’s scored twice in 22 appearances this season, but unfortunately for him, his time with Pep is coming to an end. As you might have heard a few times, Guardiola is taking over at Manchester City.
