Man United Transfer Talk: Erving Haaland, Jadon Sancho, Nemanja Matic

It’s the third international break, and Manchester United sit in seventh place, in contention for UEFA Europa League qualification. However, they’re still nine points off the pace for a top four slot, and that conveys just how much work needs to be done.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer deserves to be given space and time, as the rebuilding project is a big one, and they must be active at the January transfer window; which will be here before you know it. With that in mind, let’s take a look at who could be coming and going from Old Trafford in January.

There has been plenty of linkage to Norwegian superkid Erving Haaland, with the prevailing narrative being that United have an advantage due to Solskjaer and the RB Salzburg hit man being from the same country.

There is a ton of competition though for the 19-year-old, who has scored 26 goals already this term. Real Madrid are reportedly keen, but aware the price tag could be 100 million Euro. Kicker reports that, like many of Europe’s biggest clubs (Juventus and Barcelona are also supposedly in the mix), Bayern Munich are also interested in signing this phenom.

Bavarian Football Works looks at the possibility of this wunderkid eventually replacing Robert Lewandowski someday.

Moving on to another long term target, and another young player who is in extreme high demand, Jadon Sancho.

The Guardian reports that United are weighing up a move while Marca reports that PSG, Liverpool and Real Madrid will all provide competition in the race to acquire his services.

Next we move on frozen out midfielder Nemanja Matic, who could be on the move come 2020, provided a replacement is procured. He’s been linked with moves to West Ham United, and both major clubs in Milan.

Apparently, a lot of Hammers fans are very upset about this idea while the Manchester Evening News provided a detailed look at potential in house replacements.
