Mohamed Salah Surprised by Harry Kane Being Awarded Disputed Goal

Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah saw his lead in the Golden Boot race shrink from five to four today despite no actual Premier League action taking place. That’s because Tottenham Hotspur successfully lobbied the Football Association to change a goal credited to Christian Eriksen (but initially awarded to Harry Kane) and award it to Kane.

The goal in question came in Spurs’ 2-1 in over Stoke City this past weekend, and you can view the footage at this link, and then decide for yourself who deserved to be in the score sheet on that one.

Naturally, the Egyptian magician is quite surprised by today’s development, which saw his lead in the scoring title shrink by one.

Salah seemingly expressed his astonishment with the decision a couple hours ago on social media, as he posted this on his official Twitter account:

Wooooooow really ?

— Mohamed Salah (@MoSalah) April 11, 2018

Kane claimed the last two Golden Boots and should he catch and surpass Salah this season, he’ll become the first player to win three in a row since Thierry Henry from 2003-06. Mohamed Salah has 29 goals with five games left to play while Kane has 24 scoring strikes with six contests left on the campaign. Kane, who has missed some time recently due to injury, said immediately after the game that he earned this goal.

“I swear on my daughter’s life that I touched the ball, but there’s nothing I can do,” he said postgame at the Bet365 Stadium.
