Liverpool Forward Luis Suarez is the top scorer in the English Premier League and an international icon. He’ll be one of the most prominent figures in the World Cup this June. But before the international tournament begins, he’ll be a highly sought after commodity in the summer transfer market. Manchester City are targeting a sensational summer move for Suarez, according to Marca.
The newspaper claimed that the Blues’ director of football, Txiki Begiristain, had reached an agreement to sign the 27-year-old in what would have been one of the biggest transfers in Premier League history. With 25 points, Luis Suarez is the top scorer in the English top flight this season. His move would no doubt send Reds supporters into a frenzy.
However, the claim has already been disputed.
Suarez’s agent Pere Guardiola – brother of Bayern Munich head coach Pep – told Football Direct News that their star among stars is actually not going anywhere.
He said: “There is no truth whatsoever in the story about Luis and City.
“People should just forget about it because Luis is very happy at Liverpool and is staying there.”
