Sheffield United are back up in the top flight and so far, it’s so good for the Blades. Being +1 in goal differential and sitting in 10th place is pretty good for a newly promoted to the Premier League club and manager Chris Wilder is excited for what’s next.
They’ll host league leading Liverpool and they will do so undaunted, and certainly not star struck. “Playing the European champions at home was always going to be one of those fixtures that you look forward to,” said Wilder.
“Six years ago this fixture was a million miles away.”
“I don’t want my players getting starry-eyed, asking for shirts and things getting signed. They aren’t like that and they won’t be like that.”
Wilder is warning Liverpool now, his team won’t back down, and they’ll bring their A game.
“I want my team to be competitive as always, as we have been this season,” he continued.
“But for me, this a reward for the club and the supporters who have followed their club through thick and thin. The long-term challenge is for this to be a regular fixture.”
In looking at who could be in the Reds first team on Saturday, we’re going with the usual regulars, and thinking Sadio Mane will be ready to rock and roll come the weekend.
