Jurgen Klopp Will Get £100m to Spend on Transfers

Liverpool Manager Jurgen Klopp said over the weekend that doesn’t really need money to restore the Reds.  On Saturday, Jurgen Klopp urged patience, and maintained that the team won’t get there by spending money like crazy in the transfer market.

Today brings a report stating that the German will receive big money to spend in the transfer market anyway.

Via the Guardian:

Liverpool have said that Jürgen Klopp will be given substantial funds to overhaul his squad this summer after the club’s latest accounts underlined the financial recovery under Fenway Sports Group.

The Anfield club have announced that revenue for the year ending 31 May 2015 increased 16.5% to a record £297.9 million.

This comprised media revenue increasing by 21.5% to £122.6m, mainly due to Champions League football and reaching two domestic cup semi-finals in 2014-15, commercial revenue rising 12% to £116.3m and match-day revenue increasing by 15.9% to £59 million.

So the transfer kitty is coming, even though Klopp said just a few days ago that he doesn’t really need it. The Sunday Sun claims that Klopp will receive a sum of £100 million for that purpose.

“I am patient enough. I would like to win every game and I am really, really, really disappointed after a defeat,” he said.

“But next morning the sun shines again. You have the chance to use it, this defeat and that’s what I love in this job.”

“It’s not about transfers. Right player, big money, I don’t care. If we have it take it, use it. If we don’t have it, don’t say we have not enough money. Try a different way. That’s all.”

Liverpool are currently in ninth place, with just 38 points through 26 games. It’s quite a dramatic drop-off for a club with their rich history and tradition. So who could Klopp target with all that money?

Bayern Munich’s Mario Gotze, Leicester’s teenage left-back Ben Chilwell, and a goalkeeper who can challenge Simon Mignolet according to the Daily Express. The Daily Mail mentions Gotze and Piotr Zielinski as potential targets.
