Liverpool supporter Sean Cox, a 53-year-old father of three from Ireland, remains in an induced coma due to injuries serious injuries suffered near Anfield prior to Liverpool’s 5-2 win in the home leg of their Champions League semifinal tie with AS Roma.

Cox remains in critical condition while the two men who allegedly attacked him are in custody and due to appear in court. After Liverpool lost 4-2 at Roma tonight, but went through to the tournament final on aggregate 7-6, Liverpool players took a banner displaying the name of Sean Cox and brought it onto the pitch at the Stadio Olimpico.

The banner, which also includes the club motto “You’ll Never Walk Alone” and badge in green (for Ireland), was brought to the match by a group of Reds supporters.

Roma players also paid tribute to Cox this tie, as their training shirts were emblazoned with the phrase ‘Forza Sean.” Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said prior to the match that he “loves the gesture.”
