Fulham midfielder Harvey Elliott is/was a young man who is very much in high demand. According to multiple outlets, Liverpool have won the race to sign the kid who became the youngest player in Premier League history this past May.
Anfield reportedly beat out the likes of Paris Saint Germain, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig to the punch for the 16-year-old, who was also scouted Chelsea by Manchester City. (Hey, Manchester United, Juventus and Bayern Munich- where you guys on this one?)
According to the BBC, Elliott “cannot turn professional until his 17th birthday next April, but it is understood he will reject a scholarship at Craven Cottage and move to the Champions League winners.”
With Fulham going down to the Championship, the whiz kid must move on in order to get more top flight experience, and a Merseyside switch will also provide him the chance to feature in Europe next season.
Elliott, who became the youngest player to feature in Premier League history when he was subbed on versus Wolves, in May, will become Liverpool’s second signing this summer behind Dutch defender Sepp van dan Berg (also a teenager) from PEC Zwolle.
On the day he featured against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Elliott was aged just 16 years and 30 days.
The Harvey Elliott debut with the Fulham FC senior squad came last fall actually. At the tender age of 15 years and 174 days, he saw action at Millwall in a September League Cup tie.
