Chelsea potentially sacking Mourinho hinges on £30m buyout

(Update: Chelsea have begun to discuss the possibility of sacking manager Jose Mourinho, but are mindful that his departure would cost the club £30 million, sources have told ESPN FC.)

Depending on who you believe, the Blues could sack Mourinho this upcoming weekend, should the Blues lose to Liverpool. What a coincidence that would be given how Anfield just sacked Brendan Rodgers on October 4th.

Many of the British tabloids have already written the “Mourinho sacked if Chelsea lose on Halloween” story, but is this trick-or-treat? Doesn’t it seem a bit ridiculous that his job status would/could/might be determined by just one match?

ESPN FC understands it differently according to their sources at the club. They say Chelsea have not decided on this game being the ultimatum.

Of course, it also doesn’t help Mourinho’s case that he was officially charged for misconduct by the FA today.

A statement from the FA read: “Jose Mourinho has been charged with misconduct in relation to his language and/or behavior towards the match officials in or around the dressing room area at half-time.”

I guess we’ll see on November 1st, who’s right and who’s wrong; provided of course Jurgen Klopp and his side do their part. Should Mourinho be sacked, the speculation on his replacement centers around Carlo Ancelotti and Pep Guardiola. Of course, there would be a caretaker manager in place in the interim until the Mourinho replacement would be found.
