Embattled Chelsea Manager Jose Mourinho has just two more games to try and save his job, club sources have told ESPN FC with Carlo Ancelotti interested in taking over even on a temporary basis. The Blues will take on Dynamo Kyiv in the UEFA Champions League group stages on Wednesday, and then Stoke City on Saturday.
There were widespread reports that he would be sacked on Halloween, should the Blues lose to Liverpool. Well, the Reds did win 3-1, and yet Mourinho is still here. However, it might not be for long.
Mourinho says that he still has the dressing room on his side. The Special One makes this claim despite many believing the complete opposite. After Stoke City beat Chelsea 5-4 on penalty kicks this past Tuesday, and hence eliminated them from the League Cup tournament, Mourinho said his players are still with him at the post match press conference.
“Honestly, do you think they are not with me? That they didn’t give everything to win the game?”
“That is really sad – not sad for me but sad for the players, and I think it is a lack of respect to the players, not to me.
“For me it would be a fantastic situation if the players are against me – I could say we don’t have results because the players are against me.
“I think what some people write and say is really bad for the players. They tried everything.”
Mourinho will face the Potters yet again on Saturday and perhaps that contest will end his Chelsea career, should Stoke get the victory.
