More to Come from Christian Pulisic, Says Frank Lampard

Echoing the spirit of The Carpenters song “we’ve only just begun,” we’ve only seen the beginnings of the greatness that Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic has to offer. That’s the belief of his manager Frank Lampard, who said today that there is “more to come” from the American.

Life at Stamford Bridge was tough at first for the 21-year-old, as Lampard was very hesitant to select him, but from mid-October onward it’s been a positive trajectory. Pulisic was not Lampard’s guy, as he was acquired by the 41-year-old’s predecessor, Maurizio Sarri, but once the youngster produced a hat trick against Burnley he has played in undroppable form.

He’s since proved the early doubters wrong; drawing high praise from all across the globe, including an Oscar-winning actor and celebrity owner of a MLS expansion franchise.

And just yesterday, the winger claim U.S. Soccer’s Best Male Athlete award for 2019, becoming the youngest to win the award twice.

“There’s a lot more to come,” Lampard said.

“He gets himself in so many great positions with his talent and his dribbling ability so more goals will be the next stage of that.”

“I’m really pleased with him because we’ve asked a lot of him. He’s played a lot of games recently, back-to-back in a new league that’s very physical but of course we want a lot more as well.”

Up next for Pulisic and Chelsea is a home clash on Saturday against AFC Bournemouth.
