Antonio Rudiger to Have Chelsea Medical in L.A. Ahead of £34m Move

AS Roma Defender Antonio Rudiger is going to be Chelsea‘s second signing of the summer, conventional wisdom holds. Willy Caballero is the first, and the Rudiger deal seems to be much closer to completion than Tiemoue Bakayoko. Although Bakayoko has dropped some hints on social media that his move is not far off either.

It should be noted though that there are conflicting reports about where Rudiger’s medical will be conducted.

Yesterday, we heard that it will be held in London, while now the narrative says it will be in Los Angeles, where he is currently on vacation following his contribution to Germany’s Confederations Cup title.

And really, who wouldn’t want to be in southern california this time of year.

Here’s a tweet, posted just four hours ago, from a Sky Sports and former Times reporter indicating the German defender is in L.A. right now, and set to undergo his medical in the next couple of days.

Yesterday the prevailing thought was Antonio Rudiger was to have his Chelsea medical in London, where one would naturally expect it to be conducted.

Therefore, one can assume that there are still some unknown variables regarding this deal, but Sky just put out a story three hours ago claiming the deal is being finalized.

The Sky Sports report states that the AS Roma man (at least for now) “will take a medical in Los Angeles this week, with the transfer figure potentially rising to £34 million.”
