Welcome to The Sports Bank 77 in 77. We’re previewing one team a day everyday as the college football season approaches. And we’re doing it in rapid fire sequence. Today, the USC Trojans

2011 was: disappointing for a team with great history, great expectations, and a good coach. that whats sanctions will do to you. their bowl ban kept them from achieving more. but QB Matt Barkley decided to return, and that was gift that will keep on giving this year. Barkley giving up a NFL contract for another year means the Trojans could be the best team in the nation this year.

2012 will be a success if: 15 returning starters, so things look good. 4 on the OL. Barkley needs to find WRs Marqise Lee and Robert Woods early and often. Penn State tailback Silas Redd joins the squad so combining with Curtis MacNeal gives them two thousand yard rushers

2012 will be rough if:  the secondary is weak finishing 102nd in the nation last year. Th Trojans D was top 20 stout versus the run last year.

BMOC: the five guys on offense I already mentioned

All Name Team: WR De’Von Flournoy, SS Jawanza Starling

Bottom Line: This season should be a good one for USC. They have tons of returning talent that could lead them to an undefeated season. Finally and end to SEC dominance? If the Trojans get out of the pass happy Pac 12 without losing any shoot-outs they should be ready for the national stage
