“Beavers” ranked number 69 That’s not a coincidence is it? Especially since #70 was Cougars. Cougars to Beavers.
Of all the 1990s trends that have thankfully died out, I was really glad to see an end to all those STUPID white hats that frat-boy dipshits used to love wearing. The ones reading “BEAVERS” in huge letters with Oregon State University just below in smaller font. And of course “COCKS” with “University of South Carolina” just above the brim.
“It’s funny because it’s slang for genitalia! HAHAHAHAHAHA. It works on so many levels.”
So yeah, glad those hats aren’t in production any more. Even if it gave Oregon St. some fake bandwagon fan for awhile.
2011 was: kinda sh***y, especially for the run offense. They could pass, no doubt. But with a one-dimensional offense, they just couldn’t score. The Beavers offense ranked 118th in rushing, 19th in passing (which is amazingly only 5th in the Pac-12) and that translated to 100th in scoring. On defense they had some issues too, as they were 101st against the run and 84th overall. The Beavers also let teams stay on the field too often, as the let up way too many 3rd down conversions.
2012 will go smoothly if: the players realize last year’s 3-9 won’t cut it when it comes to saving the coach Mike Riley’s job. He can’t afford another sub .500, especially a way below .500 year and stay off the hot seat. QB Sean Mannion could become a legit star, and he has weapons to work with in Brandon Cooks and Markus Wheaton.
2012 will be rough if: again they don’t run the ball and play ball control if/when they get leads. By all logic and reason they should be a better team this season as now they have experience on defense. Of course much of that experience has experience giving up chunks of yards and points.
BMOCs: Mannion, Wheaton, Cooks, DEs Scott Crichton and Dylan Wynn
All-name team: TE Tyler Perry (does he do comedy?), LB Michael Doctor (Dre or Pepper or Marten?), TB Storm Woods, who could be a BMOC too
Bottom Line: There are too many question marks on both sides of the ball for this team to come even remotely close to contending for the division. They’ll probably finish in the 3-9 to 5-7 range as they happen to be one of the weaker teams in the Pac 12. Still, they should be a slightly improved team.
