Chelsea FC Starting XI Prediction vs Southampton FC

Chelsea FC currently sit fourth in the Premier League table, sandwiched between two fellow London clubs. The Blues are two points behind second place Tottenham Hotspur, and five ahead of fifth place Arsenal.

Right now, the west London side is dealing with an accumulating injury problem that is on the verge of potentially becoming a full blown crisis. And it’s happening at the worst possible time with the games coming fast and furious. As depth decreases, the chances for squad rotation will be smaller as fixture congestion ramps up.

Arsenal FC head to Southampton on Sunday for what will be the first Saints home match with new manager Ralph Hasenhüttl in charge. The honeymoon period, if there even was one, is already over for the new boss at the south coast club, as they need points and they need them rapidly.

They can’t mess around if they are to ward off relegation. For Arsenal, they need every point they can get in order to finish in the top four, a competition that’s as fierce as ever this season. Perhaps this will be the first match that sees Arsenal with a half-time lead this season. Let’s take a look at the fitness situation for both sides.

ralph hasenhuttl

When Southampton FC announced the sacking of manager Mark Hughes on Monday they said their search for his replacement was already underway. On Wednesday, the St. Mary’s announced their new manager, Ralph Hasenhüttl, which shows you that indeed the wheels were very much in motion two days ago.

The south coast club moved very quickly to find their Hughes replacement, signing the man known as “the Alpine Klopp” to a two-and-a-half year deal. Hasenhüttl will take over on Thursday.

Tonight, in the match at Tottenham Hotspur, Assistant Kelvin Davis will serve as the interim manager.

Tottenham Hotspur Starting XI Prediction vs Southampton FC

Southampton FC caretaker manager Kelvin Davis has a very tough assignment for his first game in charge. He’ll face a fifth place Tottenham Hotspur side that is about as fit as they have been all season. And when the Saints go in to Tottenham lately, it has not gone well for them.

Spurs have claimed victories in eight of the last 10 home matches against the south coast club, with the only losses coming in September of 2003 and May of 2016. In looking at the first team that Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino could select for this match, it’s somewhat straight-forward with few changes expected.

Tottenham vs Southampton Injury, Unavailable Report: Trippier, Vertonghen, Bertrand, Ings

Life after Mark Hughes begins for Southampton tomorrow night with a trip to Wembley Stadium and a match against Tottenham Hotspur. The Hughes era was extremely short, as the St. Mary’s continues to play managerial musical chairs. Saints will now be on to their fifth manager in the past 18 months.

In the meantime, they’ll be lead by former club captain Kelvin Davis, who has a very tough assignment right out of the gates. He’ll face a Tottenham team hungry for a result after ending up on the wrong side of a very emotional north London derby at Arsenal on Sunday.

Mark Hughes Officially Sacked by Southampton FC, Kelvin Davis Named Interim Boss

mark hughes

Southampton FC officially announced the sacking of manager Mark Hughes this afternoon. This announcement comes just six months after the south coast club had granted him a three year extension. Assistants Mark Bowen and Eddie Niedzwiecki were also let go. Hughes was appointed in March, and he helped guide the Saints to staying up in the Premier League last season.

It took up until the final Sunday of the season, but Hughes was able to make sure the club avoided relegation. He obviously won’t be given the chance to lead them to safety this year, with the club once again currently struggling mightily.

Manchester United Starting XI Prediction vs Southampton FC

manchester united line up

Manchester United are off to a very rough start this Premier League season. With only 21 points from a possible 39, manager Jose Mourinho (who for some reason felt the need to remind everyone of his past European accomplishments, unprompted, on Tuesday night) is doing a job, at least thus far, which is among the worst in recent club history.

You can forget about the league title this season, and going forward they need to pick up all the points they can and when they can in order to secure a top four finish. They are playing a team very close to the bottom of the table in Southampton this weekend, and getting anything less than three points from their trip to the south coast would be considered disastrous.

Man United vs Southampton FC Injury Report: Lindelof, Rojo, Darmian, Ings, Target

When Manchester United visit Southampton FC on Saturday, it’ll be a match-up of two teams that really need to get the ball rolling now if they are to realize their goals of this Premier League season. United are seven points off the pace for the top four, but sitting in seventh place, they need to leapfrog a couple teams in order to get back in next season’s UCL qualifying position.

Given their astronomical payroll, finishing outside the top four is way beyond unacceptable. For Southampton, they currently sit in the final relegation position of 18th. They are just one point behind Burnley for safety, but after sweating out the very real prospect of the drop last season up until the very end, they don’t want to experience that anxiety again this season.

Eden Hazard Says It’s Too Early for Chelsea to Think Premier League Title

eden hazard

Eden Hazard and Chelsea head to the international break on an extremely high note, having routed Southampton 3-0 today. They are level on points with Manchester City and Liverpool atop the Premier League table, but sit sandwiched between the two teams, in second place, due to tiebreaker criteria.

Hazard, who scored again today in the victory, had previously said that he relishes Chelsea’s role as Premier League title dark horses (City and Liverpool are everybody’s favorites to win it all). Now he’s taking a different look at the title race, saying that it is just too early to handicap it.

Chelsea FC Starting XI Prediction vs Southampton FC

chelsea fc

Chelsea FC travel to Southampton FC on Sunday looking to stay undefeated on the Premier League season. They are also looking to get back in the win column, having played their last two league matches to a stalemate. They’ll face a Saints side that is looking to move up the table, as they currently reside perilously close to the drop zone.

While Manchester City and Liverpool are the favorites to win the title, don’t count out the Blues as a dark horse contender. At the very least, their chances of a top four finish look great right now.

Chelsea FC vs Southampton FC Injury Report, Match Preview

Sunday brings a clash that features two sides at opposite ends of the Premier League table as Chelsea FC visit Southampton FC. The Blues come in just two points off the pace for the league lead, and well aware that an opportunity to be level on points with the league leaders could emerge later in the day.

That’s because the only two teams ahead of them, Liverpool and Manchester City, are squaring off later that afternoon at Anfield, and a draw on Merseyside plus a Blues win at the St. Mary’s equals Chelsea at 20 points, tied with the Reds and Sky Blues.
