Harry Kane Could Miss Up to Two Months with Ankle Injury

Very bad news for Tottenham Hotspur supporters today.

Harry Kane, yes, Harry Kane, Spurs big time scorer and franchise cornerstone, a genuinely great guy on and off the pitch could be missing for up to two months. He was taken off on a stretcher yesterday, and was later seen on crutches wearing a protective boot. He suffered an injured ankle, according to Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino, and it’s feared/expected that there’s ligament damage.

This will be confirmed via a second scan. The first scan showed that Kane did not suffer a broken bone. So at least that’s good news.

The Guardian writes:

However, there are concerns that Kane has sustained grade two ligament damage, which would normally require six to eight weeks of rehabilitation. Should the second scan confirm as much then the striker would miss the Champions League group games against CSKA Moscow and Bayer Leverkusen – Spurs lost their opening match 2-1 against Monaco last week at Wembley – and, among the seven Premier League fixtures within the timescale, key contests against Manchester City, Leicester City and Arsenal. The north London derby is on 6 November, towards the end of the normal recovery period for the injury.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino did not comment on Monday, but he did say this after the match on Sunday: “Kane to be assessed tomorrow. He twisted his ankle and felt pain. It’s difficult to assess and give an opinion. Only we have to wait, to see tomorrow,”

Best of luck to Harry Kane, and we wish him a speedy recovery. Spurs are currently third in the Premier League table, right where they finished last season, but they have some tough sledding right ahead. They will really miss Harry Kane.
