NFL Net’s Stacey Dales has message for Lebron James Haters

NFL Network analyst and Chicagoan Stacey Dales has the correct approach for Lebron James haters. First off, I need to say that I hate the word “haters.” It’s stupid hipster slang to try and sound cool. But in this situation it certainly applies.

And I’m very sick of Lebron James and the Miami Heat, but I don’t hate them. Hatred is strong caring, a feeling. I don’t care and I don’t feel for them at all. Likewise with the San Antonio Spurs. As Ayn Rand said “indifference, not hate is the opposite of love.”

Cubs Farm Club Offering Lebron James “Ring” Night Promotion

lebron king

Like I said after the NBA Finals ended, Lebron James and the Miami Heat aren’t “lovable losers” like the Chicago Cubs. This June they were simply “losers” to the Dallas Mavericks.

And even though the Cubs are in the midst of their 103 year rebuilding plan, their single A affiliate, the Peoria Chiefs are having some fun at the self-ascribed “King’s” expense. This past year “taking my talents to South Beach” was the most overused cliche among phrases relating to an American city. Now the expression synergizes with another phrase “will it play in Peoria?” relating to an American city.

You know how much minor league teams love their silly, publicity-driven game promotions? Well, here’s a doozy.

We can Officially End the Lebron James vs. Michael Jordan Debate

Lebron James Failed: we are all Cleveland Cavaliers today (or so it seems)

Schadenfreude is pleasure derived from the misfortunes of others. This notoriously untranslatable German word is used as a loanword in English, and it perfectly encapsulates what American NBA fans feel today after the Dallas Mavericks denied the Miami Heat the league title.

I guess it’s fitting the Finals MVP (Dirk Nowitzki) who did them in was a native of Wurzburg, Germany.

Schadenfreude is running rampant as the rest of the nation picks up the Cleveland vibe of laughing at Lebron James and celebrating his failure. After the final buzzer sounded, “Lebron James Fail” and “Miami Heat Fail” were quickly trending in the search engines.

And there’s plenty of good reason. Winning 58 games and the Eastern Conference title (as James and the Heat did) is a very successful season. But given all the world-must-revolve-around-me hoopla and preseason braggadocio leading into this season- anything short of winning it all in Miami=epic failure.

Cleveland Cavaliers Continue Post-LeBron Makeover

Cavs fans LeBron

Like we are currently seeing in the NFL, the 2011 NBA off-season is up in the air with a lockout looming.  Free agency could be delayed and completely restructured depending on the new agreement reached by the owners and players.  Still, The Sports Bank will break down all thirty NBA teams over the next six weeks to see what areas they need to address in the off-season.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are in post-LeBron mode and have a ton of needs to address this off-season beginning with two lottery picks in this year’s NBA Draft.

Lebron Backlash Over? James #1 in NBA Jersey Sales

LeBron James of the Miami Heat grabbed the No. 1 spot on the NBA’s Most Popular Jerseys list, regaining the top ranking for the first time since April 2004. Does that mean the backlash from “The Decision,” quite possibly one of the dumbest PR moves in not only sports but also celebrity history,  is now over?

Have people forgiven the self-ascribed King, or is his jersey being purchased by front-runner douches eager to align themselves with the league’s biggest villain? You might remember the stir caused by a fan wearing a Lebron Heat jersey to a Cleveland Indians game in July, when the wound was still fresh.

Top 10 Anti-LeBron James T-shirts for Cavs Heat game

Tonight LeBron James returns to the city he betrayed, as the Miami Heat take on the Cavaliers. Even with LeBron’s all-star supporting cast, the Heat have a mediocre 11-8 record. It sure hasn’t turned out the way LeBron imagined it would when he signed with Miami this offseason, but the wound is still fresh for Cavs fans.

In the name of sportsmanship and NBA commissioner David Stern’s tight ship, the Cleveland Cavaliers have banned fans from wearing any offensive T-shirts or apparel about LeBron James or his family. No word yet if this includes any Delonte West references ;)

Despite the no-fun ban, a jersey chaser can still dream and below is a list of the Top 10 Anti-LeBron James T-shirts that could have been…

Lebron Returns his Talents to Lake Erie! Heat at Cavaliers Thursday

“Please stay Lebron. We really need you. No bigger market’s gonna love you as much as we do. It’s a choice you’re making, you’re saving our downtown. And Cleveland is a better place with you around.”

Words from the hilarious comedy music video “We are Lebron,” a parody of “We are the World.

Remember this from the Summer of NBA Free Agent Love? That passion turned to vitriol as Lebron James turned his back on the Cleveland Cavaliers, and and coined a phrase “I’m taking my talents to South Beach” that every American citizen is now legally mandated to say whenever they discuss visiting the city of Miami. (But hey, it’s still better than what everyone was required to say in 1999- Will Smith’s “I’m…going…to…Miami, Bienvenidos a Miami”

During this past summer, I embarked on a fact finding mission/research trip to Cleveland. Ok I just wanted to take in a Cleveland Indians game and see The Jake. And it coincidentally, it was the game where Matthew Bellamy (you know that guy) wore his Lebron Miami Heat jersey in order to be a douche and piss off fans. It worked.

But how strong is the Lebron backlash today?

Miami Heat Nixes Royal Treament for LeBron Heat Jersey Guy

It’s not everyday that I picture I randomly took on vacation this past summer ends up as news, and later on a blog. Ok, that’s actually never happened on any day in my life- up until last week. But then again, I’m one of the few people in this country who actually “vacations” in Cleveland, so weird is as weird does.

Remember the most infamous Cleveland Indians game of the summer? When Sandusky, Ohio native Matthew Bellamy wore a fresh, new Miami Heat LeBron James jersey to a Cleveland Indians-New York Yankees game and this transpired.

It overshadowed A-Roid’s failure to reach 600* and occurred just a couple weeks after LeBron declared his intention to “take his talents to South Beach.” The Bellamy incident was to the long hot summer of NBA Free Agent Love what the Battle of Yorktown was to the American Revolution.

That night Bellamy also established a new “become famous for 15 seconds because you acted like a complete jackass at a sporting event” precedent. Cowboys Stadium Lap Dance Girl (video available here) followed his rule of show-business.

But it turns out Bellamy got something other than temporary fame out of this:

LeBron’s Akron Media Outreach: Too Little, Too Late

akron_lebronBy now you’re certainly heard about NBA star (or should I just call him “reality star”?) LeBron James’ ad in the Akron Beacon Journal reaching out to his hometown; but ignoring Cleveland, the city that made him a larger than life star. Now I know what you’re saying:

“Aren’t Cleveland and Akron like the same-thing?”

Well, yes and no, and no, not really.

They’re a 30 minute drive from one another. It’s like saying Chicago and Evanston are one in the same.

So James really wanted to do something about the public relations Hiroshima he unleashed on his home community? He should made a similar gesture to CLEVELAND!

You may have heard that they HATE HIM there. Especially when attention-whores wear LeBron James Miami Heat jerseys to Cleveland Indians games.

If I could quote the Evil Emperor in Return of the Jedi, “I feel your ANGER.” The only advice I can give here is take up the habit of your city’s all-time greatest hip-hop artists, Bone Thugz n Harmony. That could mellow you people out. Or read this column, since so few of you have, and I spent too much time on it to have so few page views.

I guess I have to accept the fact that I’m not huge in Cleveland.  Well, at least I still have Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Cleveland needs to get over LeBron- This is NOT HEALTHY!!!

The city of Cleveland is currently acting like a spurned and scorned ex-lover turned stalker. Yes, LeBron James broke their hearts, but they need to deal with this in a healthier fashion. T-shirts for sale on the streets outside Progressive Field read “F*** LEBRON” and “the Lyin King” (a parody of the Lion King- OMG! I get it, LOL, ROTFLMAO!)

But that is not the way.

Heckling and taunting one idiot at an Indians game in a LeBron Miami jersey will not make the pain go away.

Did you ever date someone for a couple weeks, until you realize they’re PSYCHO, so you quickly and wisely end it?

But they keep calling/texting/Facebooking/emailing no matter how many messages you ignore. Then they blog and Tweet about you. And you receive drunk voicemails months and possibly even years afterwards…well, you get the point of this 100% hypothetical and in no way based on real life experience scenario.

This is how Cleveland is acting towards Lebron James right now.

Conversing with Lebron Heat Jersey Guy in Cleveland

You heard about the guy who wore a Lebron Heat jersey to a Cleveland IndiansNew York Yankees game Wednesday night? It created such a scene that it became national news, and the story is spreading like wildfire over the internet.

And what happened made a large group of Indians fans look about as uncivilized as they did 36 years ago on Ten Cent Beer night. Yes, whenever you get a large group of New York Yankees fans together, you get MLB’s version of what gets caught in the gene pool skimmer. Yet the Yankee fans present looked downright classy and sophisticated compared to the fun at the old ballpark that went down.

Seriously Cleveland, you had a NBA star. Now he’s gone, GET OVER IT!

But on the other hand, Matt “LeBron Heat Jersey in Cleveland” Bellamy did something described as extremely attention whorish at best, completely knobbish (yes, I know these are not words) at worst. (Or maybe being an attention whore is worse than being a complete knob?) And Ohio State fans, he’s also one of your people. Thought I’d mention it.
